would like to know max spring rate for a mechanical falt tappet cam ,its in a oval track car

Depending on the lift it's generally a good idea to stay in the 150 to 160 lbs seat and 350 open pressures max. There are cases where you can go high, but it takes great care. What's you cam lift?

A typical SB engine would use about 135 to 140 lbs on the seat and 340 open. This should be good to 7000 rpm without too much trouble.
