Stock suspension Buick Regal, 3300 lbs, 10" tires, 489" with 13.5:1 compression, .780" roller, out of the box CFM heads, 4150 carb on a Vic. Jr intake, 4.10 gears and a glide.

Keep in mind that would be rear wheel HP. That puts it about 800 at the crank!

Nope thats flywheel HP. (even say so on the calc.) My 502 only makes 626hp, and at 3300lbs goes almost 133, to run 6mph more wouldnt but under 700hp like Todd said.

Not trying to get into a pissing contest(nor does it really matter), but all the calculators I have seen come up with near 700hp at the wheels. I try not to get hung up on HP numbers Hell even ATI says it is near 700 at the wheels. Here is one www.speedworldmotorplex.com/calc.htm , there are several. Anyway I know there is more in the combo, it ran these numbers with little timing (34*), 2 year old slicks(that have been thru a fire), and a converter that has above 10 percent slippage. I will get it one of these days.

Internet calculators, the late model croud with all their inefficient street combos took the HP formula [HP = (mph / 234)cubed x weight] and was to dumb to figure out or research the info from a scientific stand point, and said "engine dyno - whats that? I'd have to know how to build and install a motor to do that" and since my car makes 500hp at the wheels it must make 600+ at the flywheel and runs 12s - yea its fast... So everybody started to believe their story. But if you look at the Mopar engineers back in the super stock days, they figured out exactly how much power it takes at a certin wt. to run a certain mph, and came up with this formula ---> HP = (mph / 234)cubed x weight. Now ask your self, did thay have rear wheels dynos then, or real dynos?

In order to use those formulas Rafel one must first convert the MPH readings to the old readings since they measure trap speed differently now. Larry Meaux say a simple conversion factor of 1.0072 will correct todays MPH, which is the actual average at 1287', to the old MPH figure, which was the average at 1320'. ( It was taken at even points before and after the finish line in the old days giving true quarter mile readings.) This only changes the H.P. figures a little bit but seems to be pretty accurate in the 600-900 H.P. ranges and you are right it's flywheel H.P. The main formula that Mopar used for flywheel H.P. is (MPH x .00426) cubed x total car weight. Most SS/AA Hemi cars make about 880-920 H.P. at the flywheel and run trap speeds of about 150-151 MPH using todays shortened speed traps. This would indicate that the formula is a little low, maybe 20 or 30 H.P. using todays speed readings. The only time these power formulas don't work well is with power adder cars with high gears and real tight torque converters.
