A friend and I have been discussing his combo in his 63 chevy II. Its a 427 small block. Hes gone 11.02 @ 126 MPH and its a 3200lb car{with driver}
Heres a quick look at his combo...
-Dart IE block 10.5:1 compression
-227cc M2 track 1's
-box stock super victor
-850 annular mighty demon
-solid FT 312/312, 268/268@.050, .575/.575 Lift on a 108 Erson grind
-1 3/4" x3" fenderwell headers.
-He was running a carter mechenical 130 GPH fuel pump with -1/2" line running from the cell to the pump.
-4.33 gears and a tremec TKO 600.
Heres the thing. I think this motor should be making a LOT more power than it is. His jetting has been maxed at 93 front and 99 rear. and he still was showing very lean. Hes going to upgrade to the 172 GPH carter in hopes this will help the issue.
Now I have a few questions.
1. Is the super victor able to keep up with this motor out of the box or does it need porting? Would he pick up significantly from porting or should he go with a different intake?
2. Does he need more carb. Maybe a 1000cfm Race Demon? He dosent want to go with a dominator. This is a street/cruise car and he likes his gas mileage.
3. Are his headers a restriction? would 1 7/8 or 2" work better?
4. Woud there be alot of power to be found in a large solid roller setup and schubeck lifters?
5. Is he just running in circles trying the Carter fuel pump? Is this going to be enough?
I know this is alot of questions to ask at one shot but any and every opinion is appreciated.
Thanks, Nick
