my chevy 383 ran out of oil so it burned the bearings on the rods. I got new eagle hbeam rods, they are 6 inch ones, I didnt check first to see if mine were 6 or 5.7 will this cause a problem? Also since the crank got damaged from the no oil did that mean the cam bearings also need replacing? thanks for help

Sounds like the block will need a freshen up, and new cam bearings are a given. Odds are if it had no oil, then yes you will need to replace alot of stuff. As for rods, if you had the 5.700" rods, and you bought 6.00", you will need pistons, and balancing regardless. Quick way to check, is your piston pin up in the oil ring? If so you may have had 6.00". Hope this helps.
