I am looking at possibly building a 502 block based motor and would like to know opinions on over bore and stroke on this block. This will be a street driven vehicle with fuel injection. I have no thoughts yet on stroke vs bore but looking at 4.5 bore and stroke. I have heard overbore rotating assemblies for these motors are hard to come by....not sure if this is true.
Thoughts?

yes, street car with full EFI...1994 Caprice ex-police car. 502's are put in the 94-96 Impala SS's all the time. I am looking to expand on that theme with a 555/573 but want to make sure I can do it with the 502 block.

I will assume that 502 block you have is a Gen 6 block? If so I wouldn't go bigger than 540 inches. The 4.500" bore is as big as I would go and without getting too custom, the 4.250" stroke is the most you will fit with the standard deck block. 4.350" can be had but requires too long of a rod and too short of a pin height on a custom piston. A fuel inject 540 would be nice. If you don't have a block yet, I have a brand new Dart block and Like new Crower 4.250" crank for sale for less than buying new. This block will handle the bigger bores alot better without sacrificing strength.

Joe-
First--thank you. Can you clarify something for me. I am under the assumption the dart aftermarket big blocks are tall deck blocks...if so I am sure that will cause a clearance problem for me under the hood. The 502 block (not sure which gen yet) will fit with the proper fuel injection under my hood with out hood mods. Is the dart block you have for sale a tall deck?

I know I'm not Joe, but the dart block comes in standard deck height and tall deck or even taller w/ raised cam, etc.
