Just got my rotating assembly from the local machine shop (not my regular) and was shocked to see its balancing was performed this brutally. This is a GM forged steel 350 crank that was nearly perfect. Let me know what your opinions of this are. I think someone needs to learn properly remove weight and how to use a die grinder.

That is the ugliest thing I ever saw come out of a "machine shop". Is it common practice to weld and grind on a crank for balancing? I thought heavy metal or drilling holes was the way to do it. I hope something is being done about it (replacement)? I wouldn't feel too comfortable having something with very poor welds like these spinning around at 6000rpm!

i dont see what the problem is? i would not be afraid at all to run that crank. i will give you $50 for it. or you can run it yourself and quit your bitchin'
