i have a friend who want to put a 4.5 stroke crank in a tall deck truck block. the block is a 100 over.. . is this combination possible. or logical.. . what benifits are there with this combination if any. ? thanks..ed

I put a 4.25" stroke crank in mine with Lunati Pro-Mod rods (steel) and that fit pretty good, 4.5 is only another .125 per side, yeah that would probably clear if you don't get into the oil passage. I don't think you could do it with aluminum rods. I think a 4.25 stroke crank would be a safer bet on the clearances.
