Mike -- I am building a 327 for a 3500 lb car with wide-ratio Muncie trans. Axle ratio is 3.42. I already have the block and balanced assembly. Compression ratio will be 9.4 w/ 64cc chambers. Looking at a small solid lifter cam like Comp XS256S (218/224, 110, .465"/.477"). Also looking at using an existing Performer RPM manifold and 600 CFM carb, but not locked in to either.
Being realistic about how I use the car, I need to make good TQ in the 1500-4500 RPM range, but would like to rev to 5500+ from time to time. What heads and porting services would you recommend? And if you have any other comments, I'd like to hear them.

Got some aluminum heads that would make great power for you. Just over $1000 for those. You could get into some budget Dart iron heads for around $850 to 900 maybe. Either would make good usable power on a budget.
