Your compression is in "no mans land" Too high for pump gas and not high enough to take full advantage of race gas. I would bump compression to around 14 - 14.5:1. If its in the cards the heads could be ported. There is more in the cam as well. The biggest thing is it needs more lift.
Good Luck,
Jason G.

I think it is missing something..Sixty foot should be better..along with the ET etc.. Seems like the converter may be too tight a 383 with that kind of stuff should be running at least 6.90's in the eighth in the 10's in the quarter. Compression around 13.1 or so would be fine 12.1 is a little low but not bad. The cam should do ok IMO. Just seems to have a mismatched part or something..What size headers are you running? Foot brake?

You can have the Victor heads ported and that will help. Also it needs more camshaft.Somewhere in the .680 + lift range. Are you planning on spraying this motor? You may benefit by going to a glide or a 430 or 410 gear with the turbo 350 and 28" tires. That motor at that weight should be running 6.50's on motor alone.

Not sure why it's not running like it should be.. Here is a link to mine..compare my motor with yours and see if you see anything..I know I am lighter but.. motorsportsvillage.com/carofmonth.html

I plan to take it to the track again and try adjusting my timing. I have only ran it at 35-40 degrees. It may need more or less. Its been at 40. I am going to try bumping it up a degree at a time and see what happens. If no i mprovement I will drop back down to 35 and lower from there and see what happens. I expect this motor to run 6.90's minimum and then I will spray it.

I would expect a bit more out of it too. Was the weather decent when you ran? Altitude? Porting the heads would help a ton. Engines need to breathe to make power. Keep tuning and see what happens.

Both times I had it out it was in the high 60's low 70's and felt like on verge of raining and even drizzled once but not enough to stop racing but never rained. I was at Muncie Dragway.

Muncie is near Sea level so it's not altitude. It does get pretty wet there when the rain comes. I would guess that was eating some power. I would say the heads are holding you back a bit.

I'm going to IRP tonight to try a few more things. If I dont get where I want as is I will be giving you a call. Probably will be giving you a call this winter regardless since heads are untouched.
