I have been told any 406 with any 23 degree heads and any cam can't make power above 6800 rpm because of the piston speed! What do you think? 279 @ .050 dur. and .683 lift, heads flowing 315 at .700, 13.8 comp. ratio, 1050 dominator with 2" spacer. I have been shifting at 7250- am I over revving?

My 436 makes power to 8000 with a set of Dart Pro-1 215 heads. It peaks at 7100 though. Cam's kinda small in it.

Hmmm, Let's see piston speed limiting power to a certain rpm? I don't think so! Piston speed has bearing on life span of parts, the higher the piston speed the more stress is put on pistons, rods, bearings at higher rpms. I have a 406 with ported to the max by Rons pro 1 230's, 14.7 comp, 282/290 at 50, .753/702 lift at the valve. With a Dominator flange full ported by Rons super victor a Gary Williams modified 1050hp, 2" stepped to a 2 1/8" into a 4" collector header. Made 780 hp at 8500 and 600 ftlbs at 5500 on the dyno naturally aspirated! The cam is a Cam Motion custom for this deal for spray! On a very mild juice tune it made 980+ at 7500 and 785 ftlbs at 5500. No GM parts though, Iron eagle block, Sonny Bryant crank, GRP aluminum rods, BME pistons. POWER production limited to 6800 rpms, ONLY IF YOU BUILT IT WRONG!! LOL Bill

OOPPS, should have read 780+ at 7500 not 8500. Darn small keypad buttons and clumsy fingers! Bill
