Hey Mike, I was looking at some of the intake porting options you have, and was wondering what to expect out of a 454-R for a BBC. I've heard that the dart really responds to some work, but what gains could I get from a stage 2 port job on the vic? The intake hasn't been port matched or anything, but looks like it could use some help from the carb base to the runner entrance. I also have a super vic, but I am running a 468 in a heavy car and it looks to be a little much for it Thanks

Blending the top of the plenum is worth around 10 HP or so. It's well worth it. It smooths the transition and helps with distribution too. A port match is worth 0 to 15 HP depending on how far off it is.

How crucial is it to run this intake with a 1 inch spacer? I see edelbrock suggests it. Would I see better gains just using the super victor? Thanks

A Super Vic will kill a smaller motor in a heavy car on a big block application. Try a 4 hole spacer on the Vic Jr. It should boost the signal to the carb and make it run real hard.
