Mike you know anything about these? I'm guessing only the intake valves are rolled and the exhaust were left in the stock location? Intake port is 350cc, but with the flatter valve angle what would the cross section be, I'm hoping this thing aint a big head. Thanks for any info.

The entire head is rolled. The chamber is smaller too. Dart has an 18 degree conventional and World kinda jumped on the band wagon. The cross section isn't huge, but taylored for larger engines. These heads would work great on a 540 or 565. They would work on something smaller, but it would have to be a serious deal.

When are the details on this head going to be released? The Dart 18 degree heads are apparently going to be released in two versions. ( 330 CC and 383 CC) so they can cover several engine sizes. The specs on both of these can be had on Darts website but the Merlins aren't up for viewing yet. I wonder if they are going to be oval or square ports? I also heard that another company is going to release some A-Kicker ovals soon.

The Merlin 16's are square ports. They seem pretty rough as cast. Deffinately a porters head. Should be interesting to get my hands on a set.

Hi Rafel, I went to the Dart website and got the infomation on the new 18* heads that they are offering. I called Dart and got slightly different and somewhat more optimistic flow numbers on the 383 CNC castings, this head flows 350 at .400 lift. My son was considered changing over to them for the new shootout class here but at $4400 - $5600 plus pistons it was just a little too expensive. He talked to Darin Morgan at R-M and was told they could make over 1100 H.P. on a big motor, but i don't remember if it was a single four barrel or not. The Dart big oval has a 102 CC chamber and can be milled to 86 CC. It also has a 2.35" Intake valve and is for big bores primarily. I don't know much about the small 330 CC oval but it's just like the bigger one except has smaller valves and a 98 CC combustion chamber is standard. The small one should be perfect for 500 cubic inch street motors. The other oval port is not quite finished yet but should appear soon and is an expansion of a current line. You ought to go over to the Bulldog Site and check out the new Buick Heads and Block. More details as they become available.

Nothing yet Pete. I don't know when the new stuff will come to the market but should appear in National Dragster as soon as production on the new stuff is ready.

Having built his engines for awhile and still have a friend there, I pretty much know first hand whats going on with there stuff. As of right now, they are working on them. Yes the head is roller with smaller chambers, but it will not be a raised style runner. Changing the valve angle is one thing but if the port is not high enough it will not get the full potential from it. Basically it will be slightly better than a standard angle deal, but thats about it. One of World's biggest issues was in their cylinder head program. personally I don't feel this newer design is going to be the end all of cylinder heads. Besides the fact his pricing is way out of hand. Once I know when they are available, I'll let you know.
