How well do these respond to porting? I opened up the pushrod restriction and cleaned any casting flash in the ports, which now measure at 227cc (215cc advertised -224cc actual) How about backcutting or different valves? They're on a 383, 14.25 to 1, .700 lift solid roller. Thanks for any info.
Chris.

Chris,
I don't have any info on these heads but I'm curious what the car ran before the work you did on them. I've only seen them on 1 car and would just like to know how they perform if you don't mind sharing
thanks, Chuck

Car is @3500lbs with me in with 11.3 comp, solid cam 259/266 @050, .570 lift 10.95 @120mph best run. These heads can handle more than I've got here, It will be interesting to see how the new compression, and cam perform this year. I wasn't able to get to track till end of season(once only). I have never seen anyone else running these heads. People seem to shrug them off because it's not AFR, Brodix or Dart, but I like them.

The heads can work pretty well. Not real sure why more people don't use them. I think they get viewed as Performer RPM type stuff and get passed over for the Dart and AFR types.

Let face the facts youve probably started with junk. Anything you could do porting wise would be an improvement. If you have a kid this would be a good time to let him begin improveing upon Edelbrocks lame ass excuse of a nice cylinder head and assnine cnc work. The ports look like someone was pukeing from a 2 week crack binge while cleaning up the cnc work. Along with that the casting had low spots in the ports that were missed when the cnc went through them. I would have rather had a non-cnc portmatching because who ever did this destroyed these heads. Sure I could have fixed them but why should a person have to when they are supposedly "ready out of the box" I contacted Edelbrocks cusomer sevice and sent them several pictures of this disgrace of a head and they did'nt see anything abnormal about them. I was shocked to hear that this is the normal finish of these heads. After that they didnt respond and ignored me. Which is fine because they werent any help anyways and a waste of time. They got there heads back and Im glad. Maybe Vic should take a little time out of his [BUSY?] schedule and pop in on his cylinder department to see how they are ruining his business reputation. Gee-if he ever saw a set of Edelbrock heads that weren't PREPPED for his inspection he might be suprised--maybe not. You can bet his old man never would have left this kind of crap out to the public. I'm led to believe that if he put his name on something IT MEANT QUALITY!!! So go ahead and get your youngster set up tell him what you want him to do and let him loose because if the experts call the quality of their heads top notch your kid will put them to SHAME.
P.S. if your kid does some damage to the heads dont be too upset the heads that I recieved couldn't be any worse. They expected me to be happy to use these on my motor, no thanks I will find a better brand. AND I HAVE!!!!!!!

Let me guess Brodix, where most of their stuff flows like a gentle breeze unless it's ported? How "ready out of the box" is that? especially for the price you pay? What about pro action and their inflated flow #'s? What about AFR and their "larger than advertised ports" and mega long waiting period? If you wanna mention 18* stuff or any of the real expensive(good) stuff, then why would you pick Edelbrock in the first place?

i think if you build a sbc your a dumbass anyways. all you guys do is bitch about the products because you have a low performance engine and want to blame it on someone else instead of realizing you a stupid fuk for building a sbc in the first place. so build u a real motor put what ever heads you want on it and go race and bring the money home. p.s. this site sucks a big one just about everyone on here doesnt know S**tt about S**tt. LOSERS

Acutally I was not out to make 18* degree power. I was looking to produce a decent 525 HP from a streetable pump gas 383. I know they are not the best of the best but they claim to be "competition & ultra high performance heads" All I expected was a nice set of heads with nice ports. What I recieved was not even close, maybe yours was cast and machined correctly and didnt have this problem. We I asked for an exhange for a decent set they did not even see a problem with them, let alone reply after they responded saying that this is the normal finished product. As far as the heads I went with, they are Dart Pro 1's that are a far nicer head. Not to mention the tech and customer service at Dart is very nice and always been helpfull. All the power to you though your seem to be track fast.
;D As far as Mr. junk heads you are just funny! ;D Please do tell me what you think a "real motor" is

If they treated me like that, I'd do the same thing. I must have gotten a good set, I found nothing wrong with them. Come to think of it, I don't know how many times I asked for a catalogue and never received one?!... Anybody can go fast in a 632", doesn't take much brains, just cash. Obviously someone is bored with nothing to do, 632" must be at the engine shop.

yeah I had a 632 once I used it for weight in the rear of my car to keep the 360 sbc from blowing the tires off on the street.

The best thing is a 632's are soo streetable . As long as you have a gas station every 1/2 block. Its easy to see trafic over the sheet metal intake and twin dominators. Dont forget handeling around corners. Thats a good one Gary & mcls383 could'nt be more correct
