Hi, I'm really interested in the fastburn heads because of GM's huge amount of resources for designing a head. There are good things and bad things I've read about these such as the low flow numbers, bad valve jobs, etc. But "flow don't mean $#!+" or so I've read. Any comments on fastburns? Is there anything special about them? What do they need to perform better? Does anyone know what the minimum cross section of the intake port is? Thanks

The Fast Burns aren't all that special. If you get a great deal (cheap) on them go for it. If not, buy a decent set of Dart's or AFR's instead. You will be glad you did.

Nope nothing special, and there isn't much material to play with in the ports, as they were intened to be an AS CAST class type head.
The FastBurn chamber in the heads, is only the result of GM FINALLY catching up(about 15 years behind), to the shape that the smart engine folks have been using for years and years.... which is typical for GM and their great engineers.
