I`ve got a set of 206 bbc heads with 96cc combustion chambers. Can the combustion chamber be opend up to about 106cc without problems of going into a water jacket? They are are a 402 and it`s touch to find pistons with the compression I want using the heads I have. I plan to have the heads ported anyway and I was hoping I could open up the combustion chamber some. thanks.

I'm not sure how much it would increase the volume but having the chambers cut out to the gasket with a cutter on a Serdi (or similar) seat and guide center is what you need, especially if you are having larger valves installed.

Thanks. That would probably do what I`m looking for plus make the head a better performer by unshrouding the intake valves. I do plan to run a 2.19 intake with the 1.72 exhaust valve. Thanks again.

They can be opened up, but it would take a lot of work. 10cc is more than you might think.

Mike, what kind of flow numbers can you get from these heads with a 2.19/1.72 valve? Thanks.

Full port is typically in the 330 to 340 range. Basic bowl work goes right at 300 cfm.
