Is there any rule of thumb for linking shaving the port wall and cfm like for every .010 removed from the port walls and floor and ceiling air flow will increase by 5 cfm??

None at all. Flow is dictated more by overall shape and cross section. Generally flow will increase as cross section increases, but there are limits. There is no good rule of thumb that would cover the vast array of available makes, models, and types.
