I have a set of dart 335's and use the required comp 4806 guide plates. When I try and set the guide plates one side of the roller tip is off the valve tip 1/8 of an inch. the adjacent valve is off centered. If I grind either way it will make the other worse. Or should I split the difference and have both off center a 1/16"? Or should I cut the guide plate move it in and tig it back together? I did have a problem with these heads when I tried to put a set od girdles on them. tried a set of harland sharps and doug herberts told me they use them all the time. couldn't get them on without driving them on, even after competely taking them apart. So I went with the dart girdles and ran into almost the same thing, talked to dart and they said it was normal to take them almost completely apart and install them, did that and it went on. Very snug but went on. Almost every guide plate is off the exact same, not just one set. Is this common with these heads? Is there anyway I can check the heads to see if the rocker arms studs are in the correct location? Jim

There are times when the plates don't line up. Manley plates are the worst. If you have the equipment to cut and TIG then do it that way. You guarantee they will be perfect then. Other than that I would try a different set of guide plates.
Good luck
