I was wondering if there is way to remove the wire oring from a cylinder head without damaging the grove that the o ring sets in. I have been trying to remove them and not having any luck. Any suggestions or advice would be great.
Thanks in advance John

It's tough on aluminum. When you get the wire out the press will be almost non existent for any wire replacement. Take a sharp pick and a lot of patients. It should come out with time.

Thanks Again Mike for the advice. When you refer to the press is that the interference fit that would retain the new wire in the head ?
I been thinking of having the o ring and receiver grooves taken out and going to a Cometic gasket. I hear that this type of gasket is less trouble than the cooper head gasket set up that I'm currently using. The engine has 14:5:1 and I will be using .042 jet, do you think the Cometic gaskets would be up for the task?
Thanks Again John L

The Cometics work great. Also Felpro offers a multi layer steel gasket. It's pretty musht eh same deal. Used 'em both with good luck.
