Tim sounds like you want to go 18 or Sb.2.2 with a Iron Eagle block which is great stuff but more than you will need for 700 HP. You will have easily spent $5,000+ just in a nice short block. That just the beginning! Those heads require shaft rockers, special pistons, special lifters, ext. Just wanted to point out that you might not want to overlook Mikes deal just due to initial costs. You will spend $7,500 in no time.
just my .02

yeah i know that it will cost alot, but that money over a year or so isnt to bad but comin up with that much at one point is kinda hard for me. yeah ive been lookin at sb2.2 heads tryin to wait and find me a reasonable priced set.

The SB-2.2 heads don't work too well for a nitrous motor because of the extra small combustion chambers. A guy here tried to run some ex-Nascar Ported versions and couldn't back the timing up enough. He burned up two pistons on three different occasions. He said he had all the timing pulled that the retard system would allow and still couldn't get it down the track. You'll also likely have 15K in a SB-2.2 Engine by the time your finished.

my buddies ford motor always did good on the spray and the chambers on it was 38cc. yes i know it will cost a lot of money to build, but ive almost got enough cash for the block, then when i sell my other car then i should have enough for some heads. so ill get it lil by lil till i get it done

This guy with the SB-2.2 here had 37 cc heads and had the timimg back to 5 degrees BTDC and still burned it up three times in a row. If you don't spray more than 300 you might get by with it. The car ran 7.97 @ 171 on the second pass but burned up on the the third pass. Thats a pretty good buy on the 436 of Mike's.

Hey Harold. I took that guys old SB2.2 stuff and reworked it for a guy over here in Indy. He has been running REAL fast with little breakage over the last couple of years. It can be made to work, but you gotta watch for detonation.

Hey Harold. I took that guys old SB2.2 stuff and reworked it for a guy over here in Indy. He has been running REAL fast with little breakage over the last couple of years. It can be made to work, but you gotta watch for detonation. The small block Baretta here with the 434" SB-2 or SB2.2, whichever it was, had flat top pistons with big valve reliefs and he said it still had over 16-1 compression. I think he was trying to spray over 600 on it and it didn't like it at all. It also had a sheet metal tunnel ram with four two barrel throttle bodies and electronic fuel injection. It never did run right and he has since gone to a Turbocharger or two Turbos and should be back racing this next season. There is another guy trying to run a restricted 96MM Turbo SB-2.2 in a Nova that weighes nearly 3580 lbs. with him aboard is running pretty good when he can get down the track. His best so far is 8.41 @ 169 MPH at 22 lbs. of boost. It usually just blows the tires off.

Thats totally understandable. We were just trying to look at the big picture. Dollar per dollar in the long run. We all have had to pass-up killer deals when it does not fit the budget. It usually takes the fun out of it when a guy has to worry about the money all the time.
Maybe step up the spray if your bored with it and your engines up to it. ;D

i would step up the spray but i dont think the basically stock bottom end and block would like it to much. im not totally set on the sb2.2 heads, ive looked at the brodix 18x heads,, dart 18 degrees only thing im pretty much set on is the dart iron eagle block
